Hand caning
Look for a series of drilled holes around the edge of the seat area. These are the holes needed to HAND CANE your seat back to it’s original condition.The cane is then woven through those holes, by hand, into the standard six strand pattern. Sheet caning comes pre woven in sheets.
Look for a long strip of wood going around the seat area. This is called “the spline” and it is driven into the groove that holds the sheet of cane in place.This type of caning is substantially less expensive than work woven by hand.
